The rest state value mutation changes the value of the neuron's rest state, which is the value it remains at when it is not firing or being activated. From my understanding, the neurons within a lobe seek to return to their rest state after being fired/activated. It might take less time for Mayflur to return to her rest state, although I'm not positive what this will do for her decision lobe. Keep an eye on her decision making process! You're also correct about the other two mutations. She technically will always be tired, but only with a value of one. This will probably be unnoticeable!

Maelstrom is quite interesting. His lobe mutation, as you stated, means he has less dendrite connections between his perception and concept lobe. The silver lining here is that the migration rule states that dendrites will migrate when all dendrites are loose: He will only have two to consider, rather than three. This could mean quicker learning, but it might also mean the loss of concepts quicker. His bad habit of going left, rather than sleeping, might be something he inadvertently picked up but has not yet unlearned.

His reaction mutation is actually harmful when it comes to the learning process. A typical Norn is punished from birth when his or her hunger increases. This creates a benefit to keeping hunger down and avoiding an increase in hunger whenever possible. There are other hunger genes, however, and this will switch on at adolescence. Perhaps it's a slight disadvantage, but nothing terrible!

His instinct mutation is very interesting, but as you said, it might work in conjunction with his pain receptor mutation. Hopefully this will not be much of a problem for Maelstrom! Perhaps he will just stick to pushing toys to relieve his boredom.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14445563524165115302noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3635640911779968619.post-80390059452047056862011-10-11T03:18:08.073-07:002011-10-11T03:18:08.073-07:00Heya PB,

I got an updated egg pack that corrects this and makes it possible for them to die a little more naturally.
The first run I attempted I had Norns who were 20 hours old and still going strong. The 11-13 hours is much more managable!ArchDragonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05726478254573137207noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3635640911779968619.post-65151237976316693332011-10-10T12:56:10.566-07:002011-10-10T12:56:10.566-07:00I heard that c1 norns lacked this geneI heard that c1 norns lacked this genePirate-Robhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05738921577328933392noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3635640911779968619.post-81187024102770671272011-10-04T02:16:04.147-07:002011-10-04T02:16:04.147-07:00Hey Pirate-Rob,

Ordinary Norns can theoretically live forever with the right care. This gene ensures they die off once their aging chemical falls low enough. The full gene actually reads:

320: 44 0 Sen B, Creature, Somatic, die of old age, chem=Ageing, thresh=5, nom=102, gain=255, features=Inverted DigitalArchDragonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05726478254573137207noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3635640911779968619.post-7313572910731284092011-10-04T02:02:14.679-07:002011-10-04T02:02:14.679-07:00320: Die of old age NEW
